comment PHP 7 oci8 query with more than 8 fields causes segfault
I doubt there'll be a setting for what's fundamentally a bug. Try bumping your PHP to 7.0.5, and report it as a bug if that doesn't help?

comment Using a VPS as front end proxy
VPS providers who provide "a serious level of DDoS filtering/protection" are pretty rare, in my experience. I suspect this plan won't work as well as you think it will.

comment Php 7 opcache v php 5.6 xcache
In my experience, that sort of stuff most people are handling via something like Redis now.

comment Php 7 opcache v php 5.6 xcache
Plus, PHP 5.6 will only receive active support for 8 more months (security support's going to last longer, but still). php.net/supported-versions.php

comment Php 7 opcache v php 5.6 xcache
You're probably not going to find many comparisons between the two caches, as they're both going to be quite zippy as memory stores. You will, however, find many PHP5 vs PHP7 benchmarks, and you'll find that PHP7 almost universally sees significant performance increases. Go with PHP7.

comment Purpose of vent holes on the top of rackmount servers?
@carandraug You know, someone wrote you a well thought-out, extensive, detailed answer. Just because you're "coming from science" doesn't mean you need to be a rude asshole. "Thanks" would be nice.

comment Nginx - Redis Server issue
Just those steps cause it to do this? Or did you make the fastcgi_cache_path changes later in that document? I'd guess the issue lies there with the cache paths, not merely turning on redis.

comment Nginx - Redis Server issue
Can you elaborate on how you're "enabling" Redis Server?

comment CNAME to S3 returns the S3 URL
It would probably help if you stopped censoring your domain name and S3 URLs.

comment CNAME to S3 returns the S3 URL
Again impossible, as S3 is under Amazon's control, not yours. It's a hosted static file service.

comment CNAME to S3 returns the S3 URL
Which is impossible with S3, as S3 doesn't have single or fixed IPs. S3 has millions of potential IPs, more than one at once, and they change regularly.

AWS has private and public subnets. Does your subnet have an IGW (internet gateway)?

Christ, don't go to a VPS provider and say "DDOS". Say "load test". AWS will permit it generally, as you pay them for bandwidth usage. Apply at aws.amazon.com/security/penetration-testing

comment Why is apache installing when PHP module included?
You'll actually want to break out php5-fpm. Without php5-fpm, php5-mysql, php5-gd, and several others will default to installing Apache as their dependency.

comment Why is apache installing when PHP module included?
I think you'd want to make all the other PHP packages require php5-fpm. Once php5-fpm is installed, it won't try to install Apache anymore.

comment Why is apache installing when PHP module included?
Debian's PHP5 package requires one of libapache2-mod-php5, libapache2-mod-php5filter, php5-cgi or php5-fpm. packages.debian.org/wheezy/php5 I'm not hugely familiar with Puppet, but would moving the php5-fpm up after nginx get it to install before the other PHP packages?

comment Which PHP setup should I use for a shared hosting environment (fpm, fcgi, proxy, module)?
If you can write cPanel in "a few weeks of time" I'd like some of the amphetamines you're taking.
