comment Elastic IP vs EC2 Public Hostname + Route53
"Note that you will be charged Internet traffic if you use your public EC2 hostname to connect between instances. Every instance has a private (10.x) address for inter-instance communication." This is wrong. The public hostname resolves to the 10.* IP within EC2's network.

comment Configuring htaccess file for self hosted CDN
I think the OP is confusing "CDN" with "cookieless domain for static assets".

Create a separate AWS account and push backups to its S3. Allow creation of files but not deletion by your main AWS account via IAM rules.

comment How to block ini_get('disable_functions')
@alysa An attacker is going to try all of them. It's trivial to automate. This won't make you the slightest bit more secure.

@alysa What security benefit do you anticipate this giving you?

comment How to block ini_get('disable_functions')
+1. There's no benefit to blocking this, especially as malicious users would try to use the blocked functions anyways and wind up with an error indicating that they're blocked.

comment I used google apps. A new email account created in webhosting/cpanel can not received emails
You can't do split delivery with MX records, no. You need to pick either Google Apps or Cpanel's mail, or run them on different subdomains or something.

@deed02392 You can consider a key to be a really, really strong password if you like.

comment In AWS IAM, how do you write a policy to allow all actions?
The policy generator spits out an Sid parameter, no idea if it's required. I believe some highly privileged actions have to be specifically called out as they're not included in *.
