comment Error Could not contact Elasticsearch at http://localhost:9200. - kibana dashboard
Can you add the output of curl http://127.0.0.1:9200, also the correct format for the elasticsearch setting is: elasticsearch: "http://localhost:9200" the way you have it is printing {{dashboard.current.title}} because the setting elasticsearch: "http://"localhost":9200" breaks the js. Finally, what does host localhost resolve to on your system?

Nope, i'd try swapping the proc next. If it's not too old you might be able to RMA it with AMD.

My guess would be memory controller especially after the troubleshooting you have already done

Ah sorry, haven't touched AMD procs in 10+ years. I know on the Intel procs the memory controller is on die now, and may be the same for AMD, but can't say definitively here

If you are using Dell branded PERC controllers that are supported on the system and the PV then yes that is how it would work. But, if you are using your own controller that does not have the dell firmware on it then it doesn't know how to communicate with the existing controller.

Sounds l like you are going into the internal PERC controller and not the Adaptec RAID card. Do you see two cards POST at startup or just one?

@TEB OMSA will tell you - if the battery has failed and not just disconnected then you should get front panel warning lights.

comment Lost network connectivity after a “yum -y update”
1) ask digital ocean to recover the data if they can or 2) Figure out why the nic isn't being seen by looking at your logs.

I would check dmesg and your system logs in /var/log to see if there is any idication as to why the nic is missing

Can you use ifconfig? I find it strange that the ip command is not found on a Cent 6 box.

comment Samsung 840 Pro SSDs in a Dell R720
Using non dell drives does not void the warranty, they won't support non dell drives (and they shouldn't be required to) but they will support any other component that was installed when bought, or bought from dell after the fact. You make the trade off of self support or paying dell's markup.

We run the intel 3700's in Tier 1 servers (web, sql, etc) and the Samsung Pros in Tier 2 servers (re-creatable data, temporary data, services we don't care if the drives die, etc)

@Marcin That's 100% incorrect, they won't support the drives in the server, but they will support everything else.

Agreed, although not always possible due to constraints outside of the person's control
