comment Apache2 redirecting all HTTPS traffic to a single page
I wasn't aware of SNI, that's pretty cool. I'd be wary of using it though since the older browsers don't seem to support it (hi IE6).

You can have multiple SSL certificates per IP if you use different ports per certificate. But of course then you'd have to have something in front of your webservers (loadbalancer possibly) that directed port 443 traffic to the correct server port based on domain name. You can also buy a UCC SSL certificate to have multiple domains inside a single certificate.

comment Is it possible to create a Virtual IP in Amazon EC2
Just to emphasise: Your servers WILL fail at some point. Design for it. With elastic load balancing, you "register" your servers with the LB (rather than configure your LB for the servers) and the load is split between them. When one server (or a whole group of servers!) goes down, they're removed from the LB pool.

So if /dev/sde is getting removed is there maybe something wrong with that disk? What does SMART say ?

comment Upgrading PHP from 5.1 to 5.2 on CentOS 5.4
APC is good, personally I prefer xcache, its mostly a preference thing, they compare similarly in benchmarks but I find xcache very simple to manage. And if you ever decide to move to a higher performing webserver rather than Apache, xcache works very well with lighttpd (they're developed by the same person).

comment Load balancing multiple sites(virtual hosting) in same server with HAproxy
Why are you using a URL filter? The purpose of using a URL filter in HAProxy is to send different URLs to different servers, which is specifically not what you want to do. If you see my example config above, there is no URL filter present. It simply forwards any HTTP requests, regardless of URL, to the two different webservers.

comment Is it possible to upload only files that have been updated into a server?
+1 for using SSH and rsync. Even if you find another solution rather than rsync, you should look at moving off using FTP in general because it's an insecure protocol. Once you're using SSH/SFTP, your problem is solved by rsync too, which is an added bonus :)

name@server is particularly unhelpful when using things like the Amazon cloud, because it changes every boot and doesn't convey the purpose of the box or an easily memorable name (user@ip-x-x-x-x). So +1 for this question :)

Also the firewall isn't necessarily on your Linux server, it could be before it in the network ?
