I've been working in the IT industry for over 10 years and I'm currently a Microsoft Exchange Server specialist for a national systems integrator.

I also run the Exchange Server Pro website providing news, tutorials and solutions for IT pros who work with Microsoft Exchange Server, and the author of the Exchange Server 2003 to 2010 Migration Guide.

We can also connect on Twitter and LinkedIn.

comment does editing the email address policy in Exchange 2010 remove addresses?
Hi Longneck, Email Address Policies are additive only, they never remove existing addresses from a mail-enabled object.

comment Blanket Delegate Access in Exchange 2010
If you look at the documentation for Blackberry Enterprise Server and Exchange 2010 integration it has a bunch of information on setting up the BES service account to have that level of access, so you could translate that across to your own application's needs pretty easily I think.

comment Exchange 2010 System Requirements
It works and we once found two different Technet articles, one that said it was supported and the other that didn't list it as supported but also didn't list it as unsupported. So then we asked Microsoft and they said (verbally) yes its supported.

comment Exchange 2010 mailbox server role on a secondary dc - what is your opinion
Option 3 is not actually an option with Exchange 2010. You might be thinking of Local Continuous Replication (LCR) which was an option with Exchange 2007 but not 2010.

comment How can I open Exchange Management Console 2007 from the “Run” dialog on Windows Server 2003?
Exchange 2010 adds the %ExchangeInstallPath% environment variable so you can also use that to make sure it works no matter where Exchange is installed.

You can revert/rollback just by reversing your DNS and firewall changes, that should be fine.

comment Exchange 2003 to 2010 Upgrade - How many servers are required?
Just at first glance I would say 1 server could work for you. As always it depends, get your reseller to qualify their recommendations to you. It may be that they are thinking ahead and separate CAS/HT from MB for easier expansion later on, but if your business isn't growing like that then 1 server is just as easy.

comment Outlook2003 doesn't work with Exchange2010 like it does with Exchange2003
Is this a custom Outlook Addin? What is it trying to do? How does it interact with the server?

Just to clarify, Exchange 2010 RTM has the RPC encryption requirement enabled by default, but if you deployed straight to Exchange 2010 SP1 it does not have that requirement.

comment 4.5.1 4.4.0 DNS Query Failed
Possibly a transient issue, or perhaps the Exchange servers gives up waiting for an answer before the recursive query has delivered an answer back. When you later query the same MX record it is already in your DNS server's cache so you get an answer. Does the Exchange server eventually send the mail after a retry? Or does it get permanently stuck?

The disconnected mailboxes view is empty until you connect it to a mailbox server.
