I'm a software developer working on a social-networking site. I work mainly in J2EE, SQL, HTML, JavaScript and CSS. My free time is spent raising a daughter and a son.

You mean, "The only solution short of unplugging the user", which remains an option if the user can be identified.

comment What features would you add to Firefox to get it into the enterprise?
@GNUix: Debian and Mozilla got into an argument at one point because Debian shipped a modified Firefox that did centralized extension management. Debian tried to push that feature upstream and it was rejected. So sometimes you can't just code up the feature.

comment Removing notepad, paint etc from Server 2008
I agree. Notepad, in particular, is relied upon by some applications, such that MS goes to great lengths to ensure that it is always easily found by even the most broken of apps. In fact it's considered a system-protected file on modern Windows installs and Windows restores it from a backup if you modify it.

comment How do you pronounce Linux?
+1 me too. I started pronouncing it this way and it was burned into my brain before I learned that it was "wrong". If saying lye-nucks is wrong, I don't want to be right!

comment How do I set up Jetty 6 & Jboss 4.0.5 virtual hosting?
I'm not sure how this will work. Does this go into the jetty6-web.xml in the WAR itself? Or somewhere else? Also, in JBoss the WARs are typically deployed in an EAR file which determines the app's context through the application.xml file.

comment What is the difference between a soft (symbolic) link and a hard link?
dmckee's answer has the details about the semantics pretty much exact. The only detail I would add is an explanation of what happens at a higher level: a soft link is a file on its own, while a hard link is a directory entry pointing to existing data. Wikipedia has more details about hard and soft links.
