comment Is there a way to tell all DNS servers to keep resolving the URL while the root DNS server is offline?
I am a software developer, not a system administrator. I have occasional questions that I believe fit into the serverfault format - or so I thought. I can understand if my knowledge in some areas is seen as not sufficient to ask a question by some, but I do not at all agree with the Amazon-read-a-book answer. Punctual knowledge is EXACTLY what I need in some cases, and very often I get just that. Otherwise I'd have to read dozens of books in addition to the material I have to digest for my software development knowledge.

To be constructive, what WOULD be the best place for DNS ignorant software developers like myself to ask stupid newbie questions?

Now THAT'S an answer. Thanks very much. I understand this question will be closed because it was based on too little understanding of the system, but it still led to a deeper understanding.

Understood. An I am indeed talking about Network solutions. I'll change.

I was trying to ask if there was a way to configure an A record so that its copy survives a downtime as described. I didn't find the downvote/close vote reaction too welcoming, but in a way the question is answered with a No.

Why the close vote? Isn't the question how to avoid this kind of downtime legitimate?

Thanks again. I already updated the tools and did exactly that. Everything went like charm.
