@derobert That's fine by me. It's something I had not seen before when working with code using the mail() function - so I wasn't sure if the response on ServerFault would be "you're using the php mail() function, it's probably calling sendmail incorrectly, go to StackOverflow".

@Pekka I'm unsure of that, I'll have to poke around and find out, pretty sure one server has the MX record, one likely doesn't. That was my guess as to the problem (some kind of SPAM verification/check).

To add a thought, your web developers/existing code may want to send e-mail (in addition to the already mentioned log processes, etc), and may expect a local MTA.

Here's another JS library (pidder.com/pidcrypt), and it seems to be part of another web based password management site. Since the library supports RSA (passpack uses AES) they may be working on the public/private 'send a password'.
