comment Reverse DNS records not registered when using DHCP
I have the same issue. Using pfSense as DHCP server. Win2k8 DC/DNS. Win7 clients. The clients are registering A records, but not PTR records.

comment How can I get rid of duplicate profile folders in a newly created profile due to folder redirection?
GPP...Great idea! I have another idea in mind, so that I can keep the "move contents" option selected while I change servers. Gotta do some testing, but if it works I'll post it.

I currently have the “move files” option UN-selected and I've noticed that if I log into a new computer, I get both a local folder and a re-directed folder for each of the redirected folders. For example, in my “User” folder, I had a Documents folder with a path of “c:\Users\User\Documents” and a “My Documents” folder with a path of “\\server\share\user\My Documents”.

So is there any way to have my cake and eat it too? I would like to move the files from the old server to the new server in bulk with robocopy and avoid the CSE from moving the files during the user's next login. But, I would also like to preserve the behavior of the CSE gathering any files that exist in the local profile.

@Evan - Nathan's answer seems to conflict with yours.

comment How does folder redirection remember the previous location of a folder?
That’s what I suspected. Does this mean that I will need to move files manually from old location to new location when mandatory profiles are in use?

comment How do I configure stateful DHCPv6 in Windows Server to allow clients to ping each other?
Is that the answer? RAs are always required? Is a Windows server able to send RAs?

would you happen to know on a Ubuntu box the best place/file to insert these lines?

I understand what you are saying. I removed the unnecessary reference to NAT.

Where would the logging be for scripts applied via GP?

The GPO results wizard shows that the policy is applied. Adding the AD user account to the local admins group is all that is required to break the script. Removing the account from the admins group fixes it again.

It's just a simple "can this be done" question. Why all the negativity?

comment How do I prevent a computer from powering off when Windows is shutdown?
I am using a UPS for several servers. I want them to shutdown when told to from the UPS, but I want them to remain on so that when the power is cut, their last state was “on” and therefore they will turn themselves back on when power is restored.
