comment How do you manage “network locations” through domain group policies?
@BretFisher Turns out it's simply a folder which contents are displayed in that area. You can place anything you want there. Just have a look at C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts

comment How do you manage “network locations” through domain group policies?
Sorry for the 1year delay ;) This works great and it also made me realize what the underlying concept of these network locations is. I wasn't aware that it is simply a folder into which you can place arbitrary shortcuts. This is pretty awesome.

comment Hyper-V client regularly disconnects network adapter
@ByronC. I have installed neither as we only have the issue with the 2012R2 VM and I wasn't aware of any heavy traffic on a freshly installed server with no applications.

@joeqwerty I've moved the VM to the other host and the problem persists.

comment Hyper-V client regularly disconnects network adapter
@joeqwerty I haven't tried that yet. We only have one other Hyper-V host in the network and its hardware configuration is identical to the other host. Also, all other guests (all 2008 R2) on both hosts run fine. But I'll give it a try anyways, can't hurt.

comment `apache2ctl restart` makes apache forget about cgi-bin
Given that you're on Debian, is there any difference when using the service or invoke-rc.d calls? Like server apache2 restart

According to the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer, this resolved the issue: i.stack.imgur.com/rav3Y.png Thanks!
