comment How to remove Private Key Password from pkcs12 container?
@Koen : yes. Apparently, keytool (and probably other Java applications?) refuses to list certs in a pkcs12 container which was created with an empty export password. But I understand that OpenVPN doesn't care. So it just means: if you made it with an empty password, check that it actually works in your application.

Some tools require a password. For example keytool -v -list -storetype pkcs12 -keystore unprotected.p12 will emit a warning and will NOT list the certificate. So it may work for OpenVPN, but not for something else.

comment What is the preferred method to restart networking in Ubuntu and Debian
That doesn't seem to do stop && start. Anyway, it didn't for me in Debian Wheezy. Maybe it does in some other distro.

comment How to get system locale in Windows 7 cmd?
@Ogrish Man : This seems to be a Powershell command, but it gives me no output. Maybe because the headers are not in English. systeminfo.exe by itself works, as does gWaldo's answer in PS

comment Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS - RSysLog 8.8.0 - omusrmsg not working
I tried this on Linux Mint 17.1, which I understand is a repackaging of Ubuntu 14 LTS. Have you checked that your rsyslog really runs as user syslog, and your tty belongs to group tty? And is your terminal group-writable?

comment Why hasn't rsync caught on in the Windows world?
@Pacerier : "Command line is command line" ? You are either extremely tolerant, or you only know one and not the others. For any normal person who knows Bash in Linux/Mac (or any of the other Unix shells), cmd.exe is so crippled that saying it is "tedious at best" is still an understatement.

comment Do entries in local 'hosts' files override both forward and reverse name lookups?
When using the ISC host utility, one may get the impression that editing /etc/hosts has no effect. host 10.0.0.1 will do a DNS query and ignore the hosts file. This allows checking the system resolver: perl -MSocket -le '$a=inet_aton(shift); $_=gethostbyaddr $a, AF_INET; print' 10.0.0.1
