comment Tool to show permissions of path in Linux?
That worked perfectly for my purposes, one "accept" and a +1 for you.

No, nothing weird like that is being returned, and even the simplest of state files return the same thing: pastebin.com/FWt6JsHf

I made the changes you recommended, but it didn't make a difference. Still the same output format as above...

comment Zabbix Graphs Data is Intermittent
@asaveljevs Interesting... I hadn't noticed that the errors were so far apart. The problem is that the graph for nas is broken similarly to virt2: i.imgur.com/vDYNQHy.png Those networking errors don't explain that though.

@asaveljevs Ok, so I fixed the errors on virt2 by changing the user parameters to use the right awk (/usr/bin/awk vs /bin/awk). However, one host (nas) is still a problem: pastebin.com/Ew89gJ7T Any ideas?

@asaveljevs Just to clarify, I'm talking about the network errors for virt2. Not the active check errors, those aren't supposed to work for firewall reasons.

@asaveljevs I can't believe I forgot Zabbix had a server log! What do you think would cause these errors? pastebin.com/3k9jKCTw

comment Piping wget output to /dev/null in cron
@amalloy Only in bash. In sh, which is usually what cron uses, the ampersand redirect does not work.

@asaveljevs I'm running Zabbix 1.8.20, and I don't think those keys exist: [root@monit ~]# zabbix_get -s localhost -k zabbix[process,poller,avg,busy] | wc -l: 0

It hasn't crashed again yet... I'm choosing this as the answer. Thanks!

comment Unpredictable Boot Failure of Dell 2950 II
I don't want to sound too optimistic, but after adding the nofb option to GRUB, I haven't had it reboot itself once yet. I rebooted several times, several different ways to give it the best chance to crash, and it didn't. So that's a good sign.

@joeqwerty This is the first thing I do as a matter of course, but it didn't help this time, unfortunately.

comment Removing address bar or Hiding its content from Windows Explorer - Windows Server 2008 R2
That would be like placing your door knob behind a curtain to obscure it and deter brake-ins, rather than, you know, locking the door.

comment Programmatically adding two lines to crontab
On that note, he could also place each script directly in /etc/cron.daily/, and /etc/cron.hourly/ respectively. But I figured this way was the path of least resistance.

comment Postfix Thinks VSFTPd is… Postfix?
Of course! In hind sight, I'm kind of an idiot for not thinking of that initially... Well, heck, what did you expect from me at midnight? ;)

comment Adding Single Line to File with SaltStack
That was perfect! In my case I used a - source file rather than - text, but the principal is the same.
