of course LSB has nothing to do with the management infrastructure other than i assume the infrastructure runs on Linux. Have happened across Ubuntu and Ubuntu derivatives lately that do not conform.

I figured it was something like that, but was hoping for a more grandma fruendly system. Linux Standards Base requires that restart of an already dead service would start the service.

Yes, i had confused the two because /etc/crontab calls run-parts. i noticed later his crontab file is formatted without the username and was going to look into that. Thanks for the bug posting link.

Setting port 15 in the PVID page with the value 10 will tag all ingress into the switch on port 15 with vLan.10.

Most all NetGear switches in this class do not have HTTPS / SSL. So remote access to the switch will require a SSH tunnel or some other form of VPN. Alternatively would be to remote access a desktop on the management vLan and then have that access the switch.
