comment Cannot get CentOS 5 to update - Yum Errors
its not the sqlite package its, the repo meta data file being downloaded which is in sqlite format. For some reason it seems yum can't match the check sum. Did you do "yum clean all"?

comment Relative substitution in mod_rewrite RewriteRule
@kayahr, have you seen the way Wordpress isntall? They automatically setup .htaccess but it is generated depending on the Wordpress location from DocumentRoot. This is the only way to achieve this. add a install script that generates .htaccess, write it if the script have write permission, or else show it to use so they can manually add it to .htaccess.

comment Can i use one .htaccess file for different folders on Linux server
no you can just move the .htpasswd file outside of your document root. and then just change the path to .htpasswd in your .htaccess file. That way you will have single .htpasswd for all 3 directories. And when you will change/update passwords it will be reflected on all 3 directories.

comment IP's requesting long gone files
You can add it to your /etc/rc.local, then it will run on every reboot.
