comment tcpdump show strange packet with incorrect src ip and dst ip
tcpdump enables promisc by default. The destination ether is probably a broadcast. Use -e to see the layer 2 addresses.

I dropped back by this thread and would also like to add that if you're compiling from source you should build a package and distribute the package. Never install directly from source.

comment OpenSSL: Why can't I enter a PEM Pass Phrase in the prompt?
It's a standard design paradigm for terminals. It wasn't until many years after this design was standardized that GUIs started printing asterisks or bullets instead of the password characters.

comment what is the fastest and most reliable way of transferring a lot of files?
@memnoch_proxy: That's a good suggestion (which I up voted) but in this day and age where the NSA is even tapping private data lines between data centers (e.g., Google and Yahoo) using encryption, IMO, is always a good habit to make. Using ssh makes that simple. Using stunnel, socat or openssl works too, but they're more complex to set up for simple transfers.

You might consider using Amazon SES instead.

Try an experiment. Use --partial and kill the transfer when disk usage is high. Then use jdiskreport to find large files. See what it is for yourself.
