I began my tech career in the late 90's as a UNIX systems engineer, installing, configuring, and tuning Solaris and Linux machines for commercial and open source database servers, web servers, DNS, firewall, java application services, messaging servers, email servers and so on. I also obtained the Microsoft MCSE designation and managed mixed Windows / UNIX environments. I transitioned naturally in to team lead and director roles early on.
Since then I've added database administration, software development, project management, software design and architecture as well as budgeting, negotiation, vendor management, team development, and whatever else had been needed. I've worked in and managed Java, .NET, and LAMP environments.
Outside of work, I enjoy camping, kayaking, and a certain amount of video gaming.
