comment Only desired traps should be received by snmptrapd
The traptoemail script is a traphandle that comes with net-snmp. It's in the local directory of the source tree, or may have been installed in /usr/bin on your system.

comment HAProxy perl plugin and Net-SNMPd on Ubuntu 10.04
In /tmp/test.pl, try putting system("touch /tmp/test.works"); return 1;. If you start snmpd and it creates /tmp/test.works then you know the perl is getting executed. Otherwise, there is a different problem. Also make sure that your snmpd.conf file is being read (run snmpd using: -f -Le -Dread_config and watch the output).

comment Old, stale DNS slave server considered harmful?
They're both problems. Reducing the TTL before changing things that have mission critical timing is always a good thing. However, there is a lot of cases documented of resolvers that are caching information much longer than the TTL says to cache it.

comment Linux (FC14/i386) is raid1 intact after hot fs install? How to repair?
Hmm.... You're right that the wiki appears down (I was just looking at it like 2 days ago, so it must be temporary).

If this is on a remote then you definitely need the host name, with proper xauthentication set up. xauth is sort of annoying to get working, so once you get it running save the results in a script. I'll also add a note about SSH itself in an updated version of the above.

Then you need to set the MIBS to load properly if that's the case. Try snmpwalk HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSystemDate and it should format it properly. The contents of the string is a series of numbers that represents the above text. See the DateAndTime textual convention in the SNMPv2-TC.txt MIB file that should be on your system.

That was done with snmpget (retrieving it).

for a local disk, use "user1 -fstype=auto :/dev/sdb44" for example

I use NFS over wifi all the time. Works great (just a bit slower). Granted, it'll be a whole lot worse for home directories.

comment Can I get “disk utilization” from a NetApp filer via SNMP?

comment DIG domain NS empty when no other records exist?
Also, I should mention: don't trust google's DNS :-P They're already known for deliberately breaking things. You might try some of the other public ones, like comcast's DNSSEC enabled one.

comment Informix snmp sub agent with net-snmp
If SMUX, make sure you see the snmpd.conf manual page on smux usage and make sure you have a line in your snmpd.conf file that says "master all" as well to turn on the smux master agent support. I think it's off by default (but I may be wrong).
