comment How to prevent Avahi adding -2 to hostnames
Sorry for the slow reply. I certainly don't have two network cards in either of the machines that do this. How would I determine if I have a bonjour proxy anywhere?

comment How to make iptables DNAT work with macvlan
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm also using macvlan devices with DNAT to route traffic into Linux Containers. Works fine from the host, and from other machines on the same subnet; breaks horribly for machines on different subnets. Setting rp_filter = 0 (or 2) solved this for me. Thank you again.

Thanks Kyle. As suggested by you and Raphink, I've raised a bug report. (Sort of!)

Hi. I've sent a bug report to the mailing list, as I can't face creating Yet Another User Account just to raise the report direct in Trac. Thanks for your help!

I know. But none of that really relates to the actual question, I'm afraid.

I'm still new to puppet, but my reading of this is that as soon as I start to use that class to manage users, my servers will all get git installed on them due to the require meta-attribute. This is not what I want. I want to pick and choose which servers get git, and only manage the .gitconfig file for managed users on servers where I have chosen to also install git.

Well, I could build the whole management using shell scripts! I was hoping to leverage the power of Puppet to achieve something simple here. Regarding /etc/skel, I need to be able to template the .gitconfig on various details of the user being created (e.g. username, etc.) so this won't work.
