Good suggestion, I was about to ask the same. Also mentioned in this SO question.

Can you try du with --apparent-size, please? The man page says: "print apparent sizes, rather than disk usage; although the apparent size is usually smaller, it may be larger due to holes in ('sparse') files, internal fragmentation, indirect blocks, and the like". Maybe that helps?

comment apache fails to connect to tomcat (Worker config?)
Is it an option to use port 8009? If yes, stick with it. Because either the worker config has not been picked up by Apache or something else is blocking communication on port 8014. Maybe take this thread to ServerFault? There are more sysadmin guys who may have more ideas.

Does it work if you use port 8009?

No, the redirectPort attribute is used for SSL redirection (scroll down a bit). Hm, still unclear how to proceed. Did you try the same set up on a different machine? Did it work in the past? Have you changed something since then?

No, thats exactly right. Has Tomcat fully finished deploying before you start Apache?

Thanks, that's the one (please remove the first netstat block). Apparently Tomcat is listening on port 8014. In which order did you start Apache and Tomcat? I once had to restart Apache after bringing up Tomcat to have it pick up the AJP connection after having started them in reverse order (first Apache, then Tomcat).
