I think that's the challenge with this "varnish external approach". I ultimately needto sit down and make a decision and implement this for each page. There's no way to tell varnish: "ttl ran out? fetch new version but until that happened serve the old one" ...? Hmm.

I think I understand what you mean. This would work nice for a single page, but the other thousands? Can't use cron/wget on that scale.
