he had 4 GB RAM but another machine running. I think without virtualization you are on the safe side with your hardware

thank you for your answer and experiences! I thought it would probably require a "good" cpu because of the VLAN tagging which VDSL requires. OpenBSD and PF are really pretty efficient - so thanks to get me an inside view on how much ressources it takes in real life production use.

thanks for pointing this out - I would post this approach, too (but you already did, thanks!) cp file.txt file2.txt && zip -mqj archive.zip file2.txt (because of the -m switch the file already gets moved and there's no need to remove afterwards!)
