I changed the default order of operating systems to always boot from the correct location- I did not remove the other boot option

By transparent, I meant that users should be able to log off/log in normally - they shouldn't be forced to click a link or open browser. All computing & storage should be remote, only the monitor and devices (keyboard,mouse,usb) should be at the user end

are you sure that ping is disabled?? I've experienced on x64 Win machines that you may have to open the command prompt in administrative mode to access some commands. (ipconfig and ping included )
