So does that mean that the CPU is the limiting factor? Or is the issue that Bonnie++ is single threaded and not using enough cores to max the drives?

But the data is also on two disks so the read access should be twice as fast since both disks can be used?

Actually it didn't work: Nginx says "proxy_next_upstream not allowed here". I tried moving the if blocks into location and got the same error. Using "proxy_next_upstream error" in either location on its own works.
