I own a small, successful security consulting business. But by day I work for a really big company, doing really big things.

Nothing I write here represents the views of my employer, nor does it reflect any proprietary or confidental knowledge. In fact, practically all of it was written before I even started working there, so don't get too excited.

comment Resize / mount point (but it is not in lvm)
Resising your root partition (or any valuable partition really) is not something that should be attempted until you have a solid understanding of how the underlying technology and all the associated tools work. This is something that is absurdly easy to screw up and can quickly become non-salvageable.

comment What is the different of 64-bit Architectures? Why there is more than 1 standard?
Indeed, if I were to give this question as a homework assignment, I would have worded it more clearly. Students have a hard enough time as it is.

comment tc u32 — how to match L2 protocols in recent kernels?
@brownian you think doing exactly the same filtering in iproute2 will be higher performance? It's the same kernel, same code path, same algorithms. As long as you don't accidentally do something like turn on connection tracking, you shouldn't see a difference. *tables can impact performance because it can do a lot of complex stuff. But that doesn't means that it will.
