Sorry, Chris, that's cargo cult religion. Maybe you can't pick a lock, and thus think having one makes you secure, but all locks can be picked. Think outside the box: In many cases, making something "not obvious" can be superior to using a lock. Your model/view of security is like leaving your laptop in a locked car with the alarm set - one tweaker with a rock and your laptop is gone. But maybe it's not a tweaker, but someone with a 0-day exploit and time to kill... Oh, look! Chris has a "secure" and quite visible target! Obscurity is a VERY important part of security.
