I'm a Java-software developer working mostly with web-application server-backend (mostly stuff like Spring MVC/JPA/Hibernate, some Linux/Unix-server administration and basic database administration). Currently I work as a Design Engineer at a software company specializing in per-customer-tailored Java web applications.
I got my Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering from Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (which is basically a fancy name for a polytechnic institute ;P).
I got interested in programming at a fairly young age, back in the early 90's, when I got an old Commodore 64 from a relative and discovered BASIC. After a few years I moved into the PC-world, and used languages like QBasic and Turbo Pascal. Since then, I've studied many languages, including but not limited to C/C++, Java and a bunch of different Basics (mostly related to game programming).
Why traceroute don't work
I don't know much about networking, but maybe the two first hops don't return any information, even thought the time to live of the packet is zero when they get it, and just simply drop it? Anyway, this question should probably be moved to Superuser or Server Fault, there's probably more people knowing about these things in those sites...
