Not sure about VMWare version, but RAM is currently only at 8 GB. At peak times, almost 7.5 is used...

Yes, is that maybe not a good idea? Is there some kind of recommendation?

comment List top 404 URLs in Apache access_log
sort -r sorts alphabetically in reverse, so it will put "1", "10" and "100" after "2". You should use numeric reverse sort: sort -nr.

comment How much RAM required by Varnish?
You can of course let Varnish cache dynamic content as well, depending on the circumstances. If you have a very high load, even a few seconds of caching can go a long way.

comment Should I enable KeepAlive on Apache backend with Varnish as frontend?
When using Apache as a regular frontend server, it is sometimes recommended to disable KeepAlive: "If your mod_perl server's httpd.conf includes the following directives: ... KeepAlive On ... you have a real performance penalty, since after completing the processing for each request, the process will wait for KeepAliveTimeout seconds before closing the connection and will therefore not be serving other requests during this time. With this configuration you will need many more concurrent processes on a server with high traffic." perl.apache.org/docs/1.0/guide/performance.html#KeepAlive

comment can i cache two diffrent web sites on varnish cache server?
It's important that you get the hostname checks right, since hosts could be in mixed case etc. Don't rely on the client behaving like a well-trained browser!
