Run A Test Client can help to debug a little, but its not the answer to my question, i am interested in how to get access to the logfile of what happen while preseeding and which tool is used to load the preseed file.

a (pseudocode)
template("templatename.erb",'myvar' => 12)
looks more handy to me than having to add a define for each template i want to use twice. i think there must be a simple way to access the targetfilename or to easily pass a variable in.
