comment How do I open a peplink router's diagnostic report?
The source is just looking closely... the first 36 bytes are some kind of header (they look different). If you cut them out the file starts with 1F8B, as every good gz file should. Another educated guess is that there's a tar inside and indeed it is.

comment Simple network queue daemon for port 9100 printer
Two computers with barcode scanners, hooked up to a server hooked up to a label printer. After scanning an item a PHP website is generating PCL code and sending it to the printer which dispenses a label for that item as fast as possible. If the two print jobs overlap, one is lost. Is that what you wanted to know?

It's a label printer that prints and dispenses the label in under half a second, 4 seconds more for nothing make a huge difference.

Using the raw driver to send pre-generated PCL directly to the printer, I get response times around 4 s which is far too long. It seems that there is some problem with CUPS' socket backend: pastebin.com/NmDGss1A When I send it to the printer using netcat I get about 300 ms which is still acceptable.

In other words, it is not possible to have one common UNIX user but different passwords for different users.

Another possibility is to include the other hostnames as Subject Alternative Name in the certificate.

comment Cpu usage from top command
I'd guess it's an output from ps, though I can't say which of its countless options were used.

"Requiring" SSL is a delicate question, let's say I'd really like to have it. Maybe I'll just live with the certificate warning. However, I heard of a technique of having the Host header in the SSL or TLS handshaking. I have not yet used it but maybe I can configure it in a way that it's transparent for old SVN clients and will avoid the warning in modern browsers?
