What is the quickest way to set up a virtual server for use as a production web app? no love for Citrix XenServer (also free)? |

Odd request. iMac physical machine, want to bootcamp to windows native, then run mac os X in VM @Matt - I understand you want Windows easily accessible - hence the parallels environment which essentially lets you run Windows apps on your OS X install. It's not as fast as running directly via bootcamp but the difference is minimal. |

Ideal specs for a developer workstations? +1 for a less powerful test rig - although with enough developer machine oomph you can VM a lower-stat system. |

How can I properly licence an office? @Aaroon - you are correct - that was a poor choice of words on my part. I meant to say Volume Licensing. |

Email automatically deleted after few minutes in Outlook The default is to remove the message from the server (same as outlook, gmail and others' default pop settings). |

High Failure Rate of Large Drives? +1 Try to either space out your purchases, source from different merchants or mix brands in order to alleviate this. |

Best smartphone for sysadmins? +1 for the iPhone. It works nicely with Exchange, the app store gets new toys all the time and fewer people laugh at you versus having the ubiquitous BlackBerry Brick stapled to your belt. |

Password expiration policies One tact taken at our home office by our most senior infrastructure guy was to suggest the use of funny sentences for passwords for the non-tech oriented folks. I think his example was "IHateHavingToResetMyPasswordEvery45Days" which is certainly easy to remember. |

Password expiration policies On site at my current client, walking past the non-technical workers' desks reveals post-it note upon post-it note of passwords. This is in a 90-day environment. The complexity requirements are minimal: 8 char or longer, mixed alpha-numeric. I shudder every time I see florescent colored paper near a monitor now. |
