comment What is using all of my memory on Ubuntu 12.04?
Top isn't going to tell you anything about why a particular process is using memory. And what are you doing with PHP that it's running as Root?

That's what I said. Adding group permissions is not correct.

That's just masking the actual problem, not fixing it. The real problem is getting the correct owner settings on the other account.

comment Not running a cron job when the prev run was not finished
Better yet is to wrap the first letter of the grep search term in square braces, such as 'ps ax | grep [f]oobar'. The process list will duplicate the braces, but will filter out on the grep as not matching the regex.

comment Replacing Hard Drives
This is not entirely true. if a large number of your disks are from the same lot, you run a much higher risk of simultaneous failure when you add the stress of a rebuild. As noted in another answer, increasing sizes ofRAID5 run increasing probabilities of a URE during rebuild which takes your array below the raid5 validity threshold.

comment Find out ESXi host from VM?
@KyleBrandt Your question as posted is short on details that would indicate what research has been done, what methods you've already tried that didn't work, or any troubleshooting steps. Frankly, if this were coming from a low-rep account, I think it would already have a close vote or two.

comment Comcast Business Gatway cg3000dcr kills VPN connections after about 3mb of transfer
Just buy a proper WAN router and put your Comcast box in bridged mode to use it as a L1 media converter. Seriously, the old "crappy" FVS3xx Netgear stuff worked better than most of the trash from the ISPs does now. And my Pro-sumer Buffalo router with DD-WRT even support advanced concepts like VLAN tagging. You do know about the backdoors that ISPs put in their routers, right?

Set up a jump target for logging to determine the characteristics of the connection being dropped. Otherwise you're just guessing and poking at it blindly. serverfault.com/a/446809/73435

I know you said "firewalls are down", but that's not exactly a precise statement. How about the output of from the RH box: sudo iptables -L -nv
