comment How can I place /tmp, /var, /opt, and /usr/local into a /data partition instead of the / partition?
But still you could (re)move /tmp /var etc and mount --bind them from /data/tmp -> /tmp etc? That way the logical /tmp is actually /data/tmp (and thus your big disk / raid array whatever) Right?

Couldnt you just remount the directories? (cyberciti.biz/faq/…)

comment Docker memory leak?
Are your leaving your containers intact after killing them? (or did you keep the --rm flag?) Also, have you upgraded to 1.0+ ? this also has several bugfixes that might mitigate the issue...

comment Running Ansible locally inside a Dockerfile SSH authentication issue
We've had issues with /root not being the home directory for the active process... Try moving the ssh files into / --> /.ssh/ and debug interactively by logging into the container and running it manually just to be sure ;)

comment Why so many gettimeofday calls?
But what if my CLI php script also does alot of gettimeofday calls? is there something wrong with my php? (does i.e. date() or mktime() use those functions if i dont provide a timestamp as a param?)

comment Why so many gettimeofday calls?
The polling done by apache seems logical since its waiting for requests... that doesnt worry me as much... since then i've done some further testing and found alot of gettimeofday calls even when doing CLI php scripts... must be purely PHP somewhere (twitter.com/langemeijer mentioned APC might be a culprit with its LRU caching?)

Just serving up various PHP scripts. Nothing special. There are some date/time/mktime related function calls, but not 20K per sec.. ;)
