So you're implying there is no real solution, just custom hacks for my docker run commands? (prepending it with iptable commands?) That surprises me greatly...really no real solution

sounds about right... either through -P 3333:3333 or -P 127.0.0.1:3333:3333 both dont really work. I can fix it by prepending my UFW rules manually after starting the container iptables -I FORWARD 1 -p tcp -i eth0 -s [allowedsourceIP] --dport 3333 -j ACCEPT but this breaks after restarting / stop+starting the container...

Again, it's not about EXPOSE, its not about --link to other containers: it about having control over the publicly exposed port via UFW (as it were a normal service on the host)

Thanks, but the problem persists. Due to the fact docker changes the iptables before ure can get to them.. thus publishing ports via -p will allow the world to connect irrelevant of what ufw tries to prevent later on..

comment Wordpress behind nginx reverse proxy doesnt work in https
replace the various backends to a simple PHP script which dumps the headers ($_SERVER i.e.) and see what happens... It might be that one of you nginx-servers just messes up the headers?

It seems your nginx proxy doesnt send the correct headers (or the nginx inside the WP container doesnt forward that header into PHP... ) Try debugging the output of the NGINX reverse proxy and then looking into what comes into the WP container
