comment Why is /dev/urandom only readable by root since Ubuntu 12.04 and how can I “fix” it?
@ThatGraemeGuy I realize I'm late to the party, but that's not entirely correct. /dev/random blocks when the entropy estimate is low, while /dev/urandom continues to produce pseudorandom numbers even when the entropy estimate is low. That said, the entire concept of the entropy pool somehow "running out of randomness" is misleading and meaningless.

comment How do you control the file ownership of a socket managed by launchd
My daemon should not continue to run as root, and unfortunately, launchd.plist(5) indicates that daemons run by launchd should not themselves try to drop user privileges. It seems I likely can't use socket activation on OSX, then, which is a shame.

This doesn't work with socket activation. Is there any way I can have sockets owned by specific users/groups and use launchd socket activation?

mDNSResponder seems to contradict this. The /var/run/mDNSResponder socket is owned by root:daemon, but in its launchd plist, the UserName and GroupName keys are _mdnsresponder.

Upgraded libpq and psql, no luck.

Interestingly, it works if I connect with the psql client from my development box. Is this possibly a buggy version of libpq?

I'm running into the same problem. Github doesn't seem to be sending the HTTP basic auth credentials along with the request.

comment Multiple public IPs through DD-WRT without 1-to-1 NAT
No private addressing, if at all possible. We would like the machines with public addresses to actually have the public addresses. We need a router instead of a switch here, because we need to prioritize VOIP traffic from one of the public machines with QoS.
