comment Can RHEL6 servers be “copied”?
I would add that mounting a development system from scratch may be a good way to check the system documentation. If it happens that mounting such a server cannot be done with the documentation at hand, you have discovered an issue which might be critical to the production system (if you ever need to migrate it, or install the system for another branch, or do disaster recovery).

Definitely the first look seems like I needed, I am still checking the documentation to find out how to use it. I'll be back to you soon.

Thought about it, but a) worried about depending on yet another scheduled task to check scheduled tasks and b) generating each script locally would be easy, but controlling them centrally would not be. Also, I would have no backup for mantaining the system while I am at holiday or gone.

comment How to handle OpenVPN client as a service, when the laptop is physically on the network already?
IIRC, OpenVPN client tries to connect three times and then stops... I did not try it as a service, but you should check it out.

comment Virtualize MS-DOS desktop & copying the HDD verbatim
Of course the user that this is a "best effort" attempt. This way, if I don't succeed and the PC finally dies, then I'll be able to just confirm that it is impossible to repair, instead of having to try the same with a more tight schedule.

Ok, didn't think about DosBox seriously (too much time with vmwares and the likes) and did not know about dd. I also found about Bochs, which looks interesting too. It will take me some time to try it, so I'll give the solution as correct now and I'll update how it ends later. Thanks.

comment Stop server from loading user profiles
Where can I find the "Set roaming profile path for all users logging onto this computer" in W 2003 R2? Google says it is a group policy, there is some way to set it up in our servers (which are not domain controllers but clients from the parent network)?

Interesting, yet Helge's solution is better because it will avoid the server having to download the profile. Upvoted you anyway, thanks.

Your first part is more what I had in mind. Deleting unused profiles is not the solution because IT users do periodically log in, we do not have enough space for all of the profiles of the current IT staff.

I am more for the log solution; in our bussiness strict quotas are risky (if the patients sheets with the details for drugs or diet do not come properly due to IT policies, shit will happen). In order to restrict, I would need to allow for documents from certains origins to be "free".

Does not this situation degrade? As users see that they can print personal documents and nothing never happens...

Ok it was not clear that it was a change in a server already working, by your question I thougt you had just setup a new server.

comment 2700 Connection and 100% CPU with Apache?
The first issue is: what does your server do? If it is just serving static content, or very simple pages (for example adding two number passed as parameters), then a 100% might be excessive. If it is crunching a lot of data from the DB, or generating ray-tracing images for your users, then it is not a surprise if it has that heavy load. Also there are configuration issues (http vs. https, user management, and so on) and programming issues (there is an infinite loop somewhere in your code?).... Separate webserver and database, find out what is eating CPU, check if it is working as it should

Posted more specific information as an edit of my question. Any extra suggestion will be well received, anyway I think you have already answered my original question.

Ok. Before giving you the answer: Any suggestion of what I could be looking at (some filter that shows these connections)?
