comment Strip part of URI with mod_rewrite
Yes. My main mistake was that the alias/directory was pointing to the symfony folder and not directly to the web folder. I still do not understand why this is a problem. But after all it's working.

I cannot find an answer to my question at the mentioned link. Also the preconditions mentioned in my answer ar not mentioned at all.

comment Strip part of URI with mod_rewrite
Yes. I tried all this variations. I keep getting foo/myController. To me this looks like that mod_rewrite makes sure the right php script is executed but never changes the original URI which is passed to the php script.

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately this did not change anything. I'm still getting foo/myController instead of myController.

comment Can connect to share on windows server, but access is denied
Thanks, I was just doing this. I don't have access rights on NTFS level. But I cannot find any entry that denies any access to this folder.

comment How to make sure rsync sets proper file permissions?
Yes, I know. But as stated I'm looking for a solution on the debian box (server side). I have no access to the options of rsync on the synology box (client which initiates the rsync communication).

comment How to make sure rsync sets proper file permissions?
The transfer is initiated by the client (synology) box. I cannot change this, since the synology box isn't reachable from the server (debian) box.

There's no way to set this up through the synology GUI.

comment set-up webserver with two nics
It's a VPN endpoint. I have to add a route to our internal LAN at 191.168.10.0/24. I think I know how to do that once I get the other part working.

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately I don't know how to put this into the configuration files of my CentOs 6.2 box? Could someone give me hand for this?
