I wear many hats at my workplace.

Primarily a Database Developer, but also programmer, web designer, DBA, sysadmin, and general office bitch.

I work for a small custom software house in Sydney, Australia. We use all manner of tools - but mainly MSSQL and a Rapid Application Tool called eDeveloper uniPaaS Magic XPA.

comment How to divide internet after installing PFsense in VM
What you need to do is point your Default Gateway for the client machines to point to the LAN IP address of the PFSense box.

Hmm, to be honest I think this discusison has probably gone more complex than commenting will allow to make sense of, what I recommend is just downloading it, installing it in a VM with two network cards, and when you get stuck, read the PFSense manual or failing that, ask a question here. PFSense is easy to set up and it will give you the option to assign the WAN and LAN interfaces when you first set it up

It might be best if you move the modem/router onto a different subnet (if it's 192.168.0.1, move it to 192.168.1.1) or else you will run into routing issues on the PFSense box, because it will try to route traffic out through the LAN interface as well.

What you will need to do is give your VM two virtual network cards. They can both be assigned to the same physical card if you like. What you do then is assign one virtual adapter to be your WAN, and one to be your LAN. It will then route traffic in and out of the same physical card, but because the VM has two nics it can log the traffic between them. Then you need to point all of your Default Gateways to the PFSense VM.

Interesting. Always check the fine print of the service agreement, and check to see if they guarantee a minimum bandwidth, because a service that is jerky and unwatchable is arguably worse than no service at all

No. PFSense is a dedicated FreeBSD distribution. What you COULD do, is install Hyper-V or VMWare Server and deploy PFSense into that. But as ErikA mentioned, it will only collect statistics for traffic that comes through a web browser, not torrent, newsgroups, P2P, etc

Additionally, good luck finding a web server that actually HAS 10Tb of space for you to consume... Commercial or not...

Indeed. "Unlimited" never means "Unlimited". They usually have some sort of "Fair Play" policy that puts an upper limit on what "Unlimited" actually means.

comment Can i use TS Remote APP for Antivirus
Correct. If you ran the AV via RemoteApp, it would appear as if it was scanning locally, but it would in fact be scanning it over the TS Mapped Drive.

Those websites install an ActiveX control onto your local machine, which probably loads the virus definitions off their remote server. If this is being deployed onto a website, then that's probably the best thing to look at.

+1 - RAM that is un-utilised (esp. in a server) is going to waste
