You should also only ever have one PTR record (reverse-dns) per IP address or else bad things can happen with lookups. When I have shared servers, I tend to give the PTR record a very generic name, and only the actual site name if it's got its own dedicated IP.

How can you have any control over their computer before installing your application? That's just not possible. You can't put the controls in your application and NOT HAVE IT INSTALLED and affect the client, which is basically I believe what you're asking.

Interesting tool. We've got a VMWare ESXi blade centre so I can deploy it on there with little system cost, which would certainly catch this in future. Thanks. (p.s. that site's certificate is expired)
