I wear many hats at my workplace.

Primarily a Database Developer, but also programmer, web designer, DBA, sysadmin, and general office bitch.

I work for a small custom software house in Sydney, Australia. We use all manner of tools - but mainly MSSQL and a Rapid Application Tool called eDeveloper uniPaaS Magic XPA.

This absolutally is a server admin question. Unless you work for the most organised company on the planet, chances are it's you who will choose the naming scheme for the emails and usernames!

comment Which hardware can I use, when I want to run my software in areas with high humidity and temperature?
I was just about to post the exact same thing. There are a lot of medical-grade components that can be wall or bench mounted (and thus wiped down with a normal cloth), and usually covered in latext to keep moisture out, and a thin client that generates almost no heat to connect to a terminal server of some sort.

No need for a link. Just right-click on the disk in the Disk Management console and choose "Convert to Dynamic". That's it.

comment Point Multiple IP Addresses to a Single Host Name
This is not a solution for high availability. DNS is not designed for this and should only be used in conjunction with other fail over methods. A lot of resolvers ignore the TTL cache as well, making this method unreliable.

(It's a monolithic java app, seeing as how I forgot to say how that was relevant)

You should see their internal app called C3. I was (un)lucky enough to be there at its launch, even though it was better than their old app, it's still an absolute horror that likely deserves to be on thedailywtf.com

The very first words in his question are "If you're not running your own dns server" - what is ambiguous about that?

Correct. Community Wiki is used when a question doesn't really have a "right" or "wrong" answer, and prevents people from gaining/loosing rep on answers
