comment fsck on LVM snapshots
I ended up using R1Soft's Hot-Copy utility. R1Soft Hot Copy for Linux, which it did the job perfectly fine, the only downside is that it requires a close source kernel module.

If you're feeling to lazy to read. Linux Journal made some really great videos on iptables. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldB8kDEtTZA

Flushing the rules is not completely reliable since the chain policies will still be intact. I've already been bitten by this technique.

Is the string 'Message accepted for delivery' the standard sendmail log entry for successful messages? If so then this is what I was looking for. -Tony

I thought of that, however I have a couple of apache instances running with different users and the user's shell has been set to /sbin/nologin . If I go this route, I won't be able to login any shell commands (ran via PHP) for those users. -Alpha01

It looks like the psacct/acct (sa) utilities only log the program that was ran and not the actual command with arguments. Ideally I wanted to find a userland application and not something that hooks directly to the kernel like Linux Audit, grsecurity :-(

I'm going to try the psacct/acct route since it appears that they are part of the gnu process accounting utility set.
