comment SSH keypair generation: RSA or DSA?
msanford: Like Ophidian said they are different kinds of encryptions. 256bit RSA keys would be completely useless for pretty much any purpose. The symmetric keys are in the range 128-512bit, while assymetric start at 768bit, and are secure at about 1500-2000bit and up. 768bit public keys can and have been broken. 128bit symmetric cannot (in itself) practically be broken.

comment Linux Filesystems
The reason ls takes a long time is that it gets the full list of the files and sorts it. An open() would not take as long (on good filesystems). Also, if you do want to list them all, use "find . -maxdepth 1". It's much faster since it won't sort the files by name.

comment How can I delete all files from a directory when it reports “Argument list too long”
On linux you can do it even faster by using "+" instead of "\;". That will cause it to remove more files per "rm" in one go.

comment Cisco Switch to Switch Communication
Same thing I said, but with pictures. +1. But you may have do disable CDP and spanning tree on the remapper switch, or it will block the access ports.

You want stats from the hypervisor, not dom0, right? Or am I missing something?

comment How do I protect the database server?
-s seems to override -y, at least on my system. I get no symbols in the passwords generated with pwgen -ysB. Maybe -syB will work better for you. It does for me.

Sending SIGHUP to parent is sometimes enough. You don't always have to kill the parent.

Please tag as "sqlserver", not "sql" and "server". I don't want to have to filter out "sql".

both the p and the slash mean "per".

References for that: wikipedia on Bit references IEEE 1541 Standard (2002) and on Byte it points to the same standard.

use large 'B' to denote Byte. It's the standard. 'b' is bit. So 8Mbps=1Mb/s is just as wrong as saying 8 pies = 1 pie
