comment nginx vs apache when returning XML files
I'm unable to reproduce the problem now as the nginx url seems to be working, and the tab characters are still there, so this wasn't the solution. You do need to be careful to retain the tab characters when copy-pasting though, i.e. by piping the curl output to pbcopy on OSX. Most terminals will convert to spaces.

If you have flexibility, have a look at aptly, it's an apt repository manager which allows mirroring, snapshots, and has an api.

comment What is the difference between rpm file and 'make' source code from installation perspective
You were probably voted down because your question makes no sense. The method of installation (rpm vs make) does not impact dependencies at all. If the software requires an external binary or library, you still have to install it regardless of the method. Package managers can handle dependencies for you, and package managers generally work with precompiled binary packages like rpms (Gentoo's portage being one notable exception). You may be getting mixed up with statically vs dynamically linked libraries where sometimes the library is distributed with the source.
