comment How to create DHCP reservations with long hardware address?
Wireshark (from another machine) confirms that the actual MAC address of the Pi on the wire is normal 48 bit format: Ethernet II, Src: Raspberr_ea:ad:06 (b8:27:eb:ea:ad:06) It is something in the way that the DHCP server interprets or processes the exchange that results in the extended size.

comment How to create DHCP reservations with long hardware address?
The post I linked seemed to imply it was due to a Windows issue "As often happens in the Linux world, dhclient evolved to become more RFC compliant which can break software which is decidedly less so, e.g., your Microsoft DHCP service". I have no idea if that is true.

comment How to avoid “in use by another process” errors when piping output through a program?
The my_pipe_program is a program I wrote. It is a console application in Delphi, and uses readln and writeln, expecting those to be stdin and stdout, respectively, when used in pipes. I'm not sure how to modify the program to provide additional logging or debugging. The error seems to come from the OS. My program does not see any error condition.

comment How to avoid “in use by another process” errors when piping output through a program?
Please explain how I go about "Enabling advanced logging at this level to capture verbose detail or stack traces". These are simple CMD batch files, not a program I developed. I am more convinced that these errors are not the result of using the same file or program. While multiple CMD files can run concurrently, they do not use the same log files or programs that they pipe through. I don't think the problem is locking the execution of the CMD files, unless Windows itself is not able to support two CMD.EXE processes using piping or redirection at the same time.

comment Why are DHCP leases not included in DHCP Log?
I tried to access the files in %windir%\System32\Dhcp, but they are locked by another process and cannot be opened. What is the program that is intended to view these logs? I can't see any way to open them in the Event Viewer

comment Why are DHCP leases not included in DHCP Log?
I want to create a task triggered by a DHCP lease. I know how do do that from events in the Event Viewer. The logs in %windir%\System32\Dhcp are apparently different. Is it possible to open the DHCP logs %windir%\System32\Dhcp in a way that can create an event?

comment NSLOOKUP returning my domain appended to non-authoritative answer, along with wrong address
Yes, the problem is with OpenDNS. I switched the server over to the Google DNS at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

comment How to re-enable 640x480 resolution for special purpose display on Server 2008r2?
By "Re-enable" I mean re-enable a capability that was present in previous versions of Windows. The hardware is of course capable, so I'm assuming there is a list of resolutions somewhere, and 640x480 was removed at some point.

comment Error 0x8007274C connecting via SSTP VPN to Windows 2008r2 server
It appears that restarting relevant services does not update ListenerPort. A full server restart was required. Now the error message has changed to 0x800B010F, which is a certificate name mismatch. Now to chase that down....

comment Configuring SSTP VPN server on Win2008r2 when server is at a dynamic dns address
Thanks for the pointer on using a self-signed cert. That part I have done. Now making the VPN work is another problem, so I'll start another question.

comment Configuring SSTP VPN server on Win2008r2 when server is at a dynamic dns address
Supposing I am able to generate a server certificate for "myserver.dyndns.org". Will Windows let me install it? How would the server know if it is running at myserver.dyndns.org. It is behind a NAT router on a local subnet.

comment Configuring SSTP VPN server on Win2008r2 when server is at a dynamic dns address
With CACERT, I cannot get a server certificate unless I have registered the domain. I cannot register the domain until it sends a verification email to the domain. I suppose I could temporarily set up an email server on the server at the dynamic address, but that seems like a lot of work. Maybe I should look elsewhere to generate a self-signed server certificate?

comment “Error 53” with local LAN machines after VPN session on server
I'm still having this problem. Sometimes I can get error 53 when I use "net view \\server" but it still works by IP address (net view \\192.168.0.1), even if there has been no VPN connected. "Ping server" resolves to 192.168.0.1. The only solution I have found is rebooting the Win7 machine. So it may not be related to the VPN after all.

comment Does Ixia Qcheck support IPv6?
Eirik - I was unable to find any pricing for IxChariot on Ixia's web site. Usually that means "if you have to ask how much it is, you can't afford it". Can you provide a rough estimate of IxChariot cost?

comment Safely remove a drive from eSATA hotswapable enclosure?
Thank you for the reference. I tried running "SYNC -r I:" and I still got the "Unsafe Removal" dialog after removing the drive. The Show Unplug/Eject icon on the taskbar" checkbox is checked, but the drive is not included in the list of removable drives.
