comment Have one application use VPN while others do not in Linux?
Agreed, also, you could multi-home the Linux router and policy route based on traffic destine for the new IP. You can multi-home without adding a NIC card too; i.e. multiple IPs bound to same physical interface.

comment SMTP-AUTH required for local domains?
I found the error in my ways. I was updating smtpd_recipient_restrictions instead of smtpd_sender_restrictions. Additionally, I had the order reversed between: check_sender_access hash:/etc/postfix/access_table, permit_sasl_authenticated when it should be as you've shown: permit_sasl_authenticated, check_sender_access hash:/etc/postfix/access_table Thanks for the help!!!!

I updated my post to include what I tried. This gives 554 5.7.1 <me@mydomain.com>: Sender address rejected: Access denied With and without SMTP-AUTH. In my SQL table I have exactly as you have above.

I've tried this - see the 2nd link I provided in my original question. The side effect of doing this is that mail from domains not claiming to be mydomain gets rejected also which I don't want to happen.

comment Webbased Log Parser for mod_log_sql
agree with the above comment: We use postgreSQL to log our web logs and we have two PostgreSQL servers using RAID10 to handle apache logs, among other databases, to log for over 900 web sites across 6 servers. If/When we run up against a database performance issue, there are caching tools available such as PGPOOL and MEMCACHE for databases. Although, asadmin's point is valid in that it has the potential to be a bottleneck if not monitored and/or setup correctly.

comment I can't find firewall on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
If you can't seem to find the firewall on the server then what leads you to believe the box has firewall rules? Could it be that SQL server is either not listening on port 1433 or not using TCP/IP as a transport? Have you tried using localhost:1433?

comment Prevent brute force attacks in Microsoft FTP Server (IIS6/7)
well, I up-voted, even though I agree, in part, with Evan's comments. I guess it depends on your situation like, how busy is the box, running the script as Administrator can be mitigated by changing the administrator's account name (we use things like $administrator).

comment Scaling large file downloads?
caching in my opinion is not going to solve a system that is heavy IO intensive unless you have tons of RAM to keep most of these "large" files in memory which seems unlikely. How large is "large?" "Large" to means implies GB size files requiring many disk flushes. What is your disk sub-system today? (RAID hardware, softwware, SAN, NAS, what?) Post your VMSTAT and IOSTAT dumps. If this is Linux, also post your HDPARM -t and -T output for each disk and possibly some FIO tests if you can.
