I am a systems engineer on the Microsoft Windows Team. This team is responsible for OS and Hardware Support. My main tool that I use to administrate boxes is PowerShell. While I have experience in a wide range of products I am focused on Windows Server, Virtualization, and automation and building tools with PowerShell.

comment ESX performance stats in Logstash
This didn't end up working for me. I did however take from it and get a more robust config. I will see if I can post what I have.

if the ESX host is already syslogging to a syslog server and from there Logstash is picking it up, will this work in that context?

comment How can I retrieve the data types of properties when querying WMI via Winrm
While I understand performance reasons wouldn't the process of making a connection to a single box multiple times decrease performance? Within PowerShell you can setup sessions to these boxes, making the connection once and then when needing to get more from the box you can use the same connection you already set up. I would think this would greatly increase your performance even while using PowerShell. I would understand a little better if you were only reaching out to a box once. PowerShell in v4 even allows the remote box to reboot and your session will still be active after the reboot.
