comment Make user home directory at gdm login
I'm sorry, I'm at the limit of my pam troubleshooting knowledge. If I think of something else I'll definitely post it here.

comment Make user home directory at gdm login
I'd try copying the mkhomedir line to the top of common-session. Also, try keeping an eye on /var/log/auth.log while a login is in session; I believe that's where PAM errors will be logged.

comment mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb on CentOS 6.0
Your fdisk output says /dev/sdb3; did you try that too (even though it's empty, just in case)? What partitions are listed in /etc/fstab?

comment Puppet auditing of file resource not working
Since the exec resource has "refreshonly" set to true, it will only run when it's triggered.

comment ssh connection refused only from my mac, my linux box connects without issue
I'd be curious to know what happens if you were to set up Linux under VirtualBox and try to connect there. Perhaps that will help you distinguish between a configuration issue with Mac OS and an underlying network issue somewhere.
