comment How To Tell Puppet To Only Install Using Pip If A File Doesn't Exist
This will cause the carbon-cache.py file to be removed each time, but the package will still be installed repeatedly.

I think I don't understand your question. If you include the "ntp" class in the "ntp::client" and "ntp::server" classes, are you not able to use those resources' names directly, e.g. 'Package["ntp"]'? Can you post some --debug output of it not working?

comment What is the difference between du -h and ls -lh?
df reports the number of remaining blocks * the filesystem block size. In this case it'd be more like du, as even partially-used blocks are considered fully allocated. df basically translates statvfs, so you could look at that system call to get a better idea of what's going on.

comment Identify AD Group Type: Distribution Group or Security Group
Which "User Interface" are you referring to? Do you have access to the Active Directory Users and Computers interface? If not, how would you look at a list of groups that you'd like to know this about?

I don't understand what you mean; how does it not work for /? When I run tree /, I get what looks like reasonable output to me.

The image viewer IrfanView can handle just about any image in existence and is free.

comment Cacti System Utilities says wrong RRDTool and Graphs dont show up
Perhaps a dumb question, but what happens when you run the RRDTool command from debug mode yourself? Does it create a valid graph image?

comment Speeding up page load times by using tmpfs
Are you sure that Wordpress is accessing files from that directory? 1) It might not be configured to point there; 2) if you started Wordpress before mounting that directory with tmpfs, Wordpress will probably still be using file handles to the mount point (as opposed to tmpfs)

+1 for this answer, having your domain computers using different timeservers is asking for trouble.

Yes, that's correct.

comment Permissions to create an spn
Not necessarily; the link you gave mentions that all you need is to have the "Validated write to service principle name" permission delegated to your account or group. OP could create a group for "Keytab Admins" and delegate this permission only to it without needing to make everybody Domain Admins.

I'm sorry, I'm at the limit of my pam troubleshooting knowledge. If I think of something else I'll definitely post it here.

I'd try copying the mkhomedir line to the top of common-session. Also, try keeping an eye on /var/log/auth.log while a login is in session; I believe that's where PAM errors will be logged.

If you're comfortable with compiling your own software, Gentoo offers the Catalyst project that lets you build a completely customized system from scratch.

comment mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb on CentOS 6.0
Your fdisk output says /dev/sdb3; did you try that too (even though it's empty, just in case)? What partitions are listed in /etc/fstab?

comment Puppet auditing of file resource not working
Since the exec resource has "refreshonly" set to true, it will only run when it's triggered.
