Whoa, that is pricey. Switching video and audio independently looks like a very enticing feature. Thanks.

comment How can I force other users to log out?
Ha! Neat. I'd never heard of this command before. Is it available on all systems? Sure looks like it beats killing their shell process.

Thanks for the links. PowerConvert looks very promising as an easy to use solution but the VMWare migration document looks like it will do the trick. Thanks.

Nice point on the unknown hardware. In any case I'm looking to avoid the whole "install the programs" I want scenario since it's not convenient thing to go through.

Yes, I'd thought of just moving the VM to its own dedicated VM host. In fact that's what will probably happen if the VM needs more resources a shared host can't provide. But I have to think of those edge cases as well, if only briefly.

comment Can I “register” python scripts to execute on Windows?
Thanks for taking a look. :) I guess if I want to avoid the additional typing I'll have to have a set of aliases or something.

comment Which file system to use for portable hard drive shared among different operating systems?
@Zoredache Almost there. I'm thinking two partitions, a FAT32 holding the various file system drivers for each OS and the other an NTFS holding my files. I guess until Apple ships something like MacFUSE with OSX I'm going to have to live with installing it.

Re: Running without the file extension: Not a big deal. But I see my problem now. It works as described in cmd.exe but silly me, I'm trying to run it that way in the bash shell using Cygwin. smack But thanks for your help. :)

Does the redirection bug the FAQ mentions for Win NT exist in Windows XP? I ask because Windows XP is based on NT, correct?
