comment What are the arguments for and against a network policy where the sys admin knows users passwords?
@Ronald Pottol I can see your advantages with the ownership thing but i really don't prefer it hey. The idea that you need to "take ownership" first seems like a wasted step to me. I'd probably assert that there isn't a real need for accountability on the admins part as they should have full trust from the organisation. This step to me seems to just get in the way. I think i prefer the unix approach.

I never got to implement this but i'd think this is most likely the answer i'd go with from a management perspective (easier to manage from a single point).

comment Do any software RAID solutions support the TRIM command?
Apparently the latest update to the Intel Matrix RAID system will pass TRIM commands: hardwarecanucks.com/news/cpu/…

comment Do any software RAID solutions support the TRIM command?
This can be proved fairly simply. Use this tool to see if the OS can communicate with the SSDs firmware and return affirmative TRIM support: crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html Then use the manual verification technique described in this answer to see if it actually works: serverfault.com/questions/94017/…
