comment Can a “4 line” Grandstream GXP 2000 handle 8 lines?
Add a queue using the Trixbox interface, give it an extension and make that the destination for inbound calls, add the receptionist to the queue as an agent. Though having multiple lines helps if the receptionist needs to put a lot of people on hold, park works well for this too. You can easily test this out by adding yourself to a queue with an extension and having another phone call it, the phone calling will hear music (or ringing, depending on how you configure it) and everyone as agents on the queue will have their phones ring (by whatever rule you apply).

And fire your telephone engineer, this has nothing to do with Asterisk.

Oh yeah, and if you're using FreePBX for configs, phone dialplan rewrites are pretty straight forward to deploy and wont nearly make people scratch their head as much as my setup probably would.

comment Is FreeNAS ready for the enterprise?
@Solignis NEVER use hardware RAID on ZFS, it defeats a lot of the point and prevents it from properly handling data integrity.

@ErikA: ZFS snapshots can be exposed to end users over Samba? That is awesome!

However, we're looking towards Veeam for our virtual environment, it doesn't do to-tapes... outside of something like Bacula and Amanda (my first choices) what would you recommend to push that data to tape?

I agree with you simply from the standpoint of constantly locked queued jobs and unavailable media on 5 disks that are supposed to accept 20 jobs minimum (15 jobs are queued), but I have to try to work with what I've inherited.

Financial reasons, we poured thousands into BackupExec (I walked into this mess). I've actually ran with the above setup, with my biggest problem being the media server not doing multiple backup to disks in parallel (and various other critical stability issues such as the server starting two pvlsvr.exe processes and causing the media library to go offline), with policies it isn't really bad at all outside BE being stupidly unstable.
