comment ProFTPD Inconsistent Errors
Adding TLS support to this is trivial, but I'm not going to complicate the problem. I'll be enabling mod_tls once this is running right. As for SFTP, the application I'm configuring this for (backups) doesn't support it. I could script around it but would rather just run with FTP + TLS (plus scripting it will cause me to lose a lot of features).

dmesg printing out hardware errors? You have a high load average for no IOWait and no CPU time.

"Trick here is budget I'm sure" It really is nearly impossible to give any good recommendations without knowing what the budget is, ugh!

comment How can I develop a strategy for serving 45 second videos to hundreds of thousands of users?
If you want a custom server, drop it in a colo, you'll need a lot more pipe than a T1. I'd say depends on the scale, if it's a start-up project, go cloud till your income (and demand) matches getting dedicated hardware.

Assumption on my part, I couldn't imagine two people actively sharing a phone! Hah.

Or dynamically generate your asterisk configs based on who is in the office.

The only thing you'll have to keep in mind is that ext. 2003 will likely not go to voicemail, but get picked up by the person who thinks the're extension 2001, bleh!
