I wasn't necessarily talking about reinstallation at deeper level than possibly just moving boxes to a new environment and hooking up to new networks, DNS, etc. You would just need to know what is changing an be ready to test to see if it works. It wasn't completely clear from the original post exactly what was moving. However, from your updates, it sounds like you don't own the boxes so you would not be taking them with you and would have to redo the set up in the new environment if you moved.

@Martin - You're right, splitting /usr off is probably unnecessary and I don't always do it anymore either. The swap = 2xRAM is an old habit left over from the days when I've was configuring systems with only 256 MB RAM or less.
